Electrical trouble on a Bothell commute
Electrical problems like to show up at the worst time: a click instead of a start in the office parking lot, or a battery light coming on halfway down Hwy 522. Winter commuting makes it more likely. In the rainy months your car runs headlights, wipers, defrost, the blower and heated seats at once, often while idling in I-405 traffic, when the alternator is putting out the least.

What we repair
We work on the parts that start, charge and power your car: batteries and battery cables, alternators, starters, the fuse box and fuses, ignition switches, headlights and other vehicle lighting, and the wiring and ground connections that tie it all together. A lot of electrical complaints come down to one corroded cable end or a weak ground, and those are worth ruling out before anything expensive.
Symptoms that point to an electrical problem

Test first, then replace
A new battery won’t fix a bad alternator. It will just go dead again in a few days. That’s why we test before we sell you parts. We load test the battery, check charging output, check how much current the starter draws, and test for parasitic drains that empty the battery overnight. For lights and accessories that come and go, we trace the circuit to find the loose connection, bad switch or damaged wire behind it.

When it can wait and what affects the cost
A single burned-out bulb can be booked at a time that suits you, though lights are a safety item in our dark, wet winters. A charging warning light can’t wait. It means the car is running on battery power alone and could shut down in traffic. A smell of hot plastic or a fuse that blows again right away also needs attention now.
Cost depends on what we find. Replacing a known bad part is straightforward. Tracking down an intermittent wiring fault takes more diagnostic time, and some starters and alternators are buried deep in the engine bay. We’ll work with your timeline and budget and tell you what needs doing now.
