Electrical problems we diagnose and repair
Modern cars run almost everything through wiring and computers, from the starter to the power windows. When something goes wrong, the symptom is not always near the cause. We work on the whole system, on cars, trucks and diesel vehicles of every make:

Signs of an electrical problem
The most common ones show up at the key or the start button. A slow, labored crank, a single click or rapid clicking, or no response at all point to the battery, cables or starter. Dim or flickering headlights, a battery warning light, or a battery that keeps going dead after the car sits for a day or two point to charging problems or a drain.
Other signs include fuses that keep blowing, accessories that work some of the time, warning lights that come and go, or a burning plastic smell. That last one means stop driving and call us.
How we find the real cause
The battery, alternator and starter depend on each other, so we test all three together. A weak alternator can kill a new battery, and a bad cable can make a good starter seem dead. Putting in a new battery without testing often just delays the next no-start.
For harder problems, we scan the vehicle’s computer modules for stored codes, check for a parasitic draw that drains the battery overnight, and trace the circuit with a meter until we find the broken wire, failed relay or corroded connector. Then we explain what we found and what it takes to fix it.

Our winters are not brutal, but cold, wet mornings are when weak batteries finally give up. A battery that started fine in August may not crank on a frosty December morning. Damp air also corrodes battery terminals and connectors over time, which causes problems that come and go.
Short trips are part of it too. A few miles around Woodinville is not enough to recharge a battery after a cold start, especially with the lights, wipers, heater and defroster all running. A quick battery and charging test in the fall is a good habit.

A dome light that will not turn off can wait a few days. A battery light, a car that barely starts, or a burning smell should not. Cost depends on whether it is a part swap like a battery or starter, or a wiring fault that takes time to trace, and on how hard the part is to reach on your vehicle.
